For the regular BJJ training you’ll need the following equipment:
- kimono (gi),
- belt (in white at the beginning),
- rash guards and pants without pockets, zippers etc. for the so-called “no gi” units
- mouthguard
- clean shoes (flip-flops, slippers etc.), that you only wear inside the school
The gi as well as the belt need to be washed after every training session for sanitary reasons. That is why you should keep a second gi in your closet with increasing training intensity.
Kneepads and so-called rash guards, which are worn under the gi, are also highly recommended.
For hygienic reasons rash guards are mandatory for every training in some schools.
Sweatpants and T-shirt and are usually okay for the trial session.
